The Grammy award winning artist took to the stage at the Bicentennial Colombian Festival in Miami and gave them a night to remember
MIAMI, FL, July 20, 2010 - Daddy Yankee gave over 20,000 fans a night to remember when he took the stage at the Biccentennial Colombian Independence Festival at Fair Expo Center in Miami, FL. Yankee sang under typical Miami Summer conditions shifting from sunny clear afternoon skies to heavy rainstorms. Fans remained still and were not phased by the rain in order to see their idol and celebrate their independence. He felt the energy of the Colombian community, and did not disappoint. Among the many songs performed were his current #1 single “Descontrol”, which he started the show with, “Pose” “Lo Que Paso” and for the first time, the singer performed “La Despedida”, the next single off his current release Mundial, which remains at the top of Billboard’s Latin, Latin Urban and Rap albums charts. It is also taking over the digital world as the album finds itself in the top five of iTunes Latino chart.
Daddy Yankee was named by CNN as the Most Influential Hispanic Artist of 2009. He was also named by Time Magazine as one of the 100 Most Influential in the World in May 2006. Yankee was the recipient of Billboard Magazine’s Urban Latin Artist of the Decade and the Latin Album Artist of the Decade in December 2009. The Puerto Rican native has broken yet another barrier for the Latin artist community and was the first Latin Urban recording artist to guest star on CBS’ Emmy Award winning soap The Bold and the Beautiful, this past June. Yankee’s newest addition to his multi faceted career will be the second fragrance launch DYamante, The Caribbean inspired women’s fragrance will be out in department stores across the country this Summer.
