The Hot Ticket: Your Guide to Events on Sale


Every Thursday, we find out the hottest concerts and when they’re going on sale in the days ahead so you don’t have to do the work. Read on for this week’s heads-ups.

British singer Lily Allen will tour in support of her second album, It’s Not Me, It’s You, which was released on Tuesday. The indie-electronica act Natalie Portman’s Shaved Head (we’re not kidding) will open the show on Friday, April 17, at 9:30 Club. Tickets ($25) went on sale this morning.

The indie-rock band the National has scheduled a handful of shows for May, two of which are at 9:30 Club on Sunday, May 24, and Monday, May 25. Tickets ($25) went on sale this morning.

Jack’s Mannequin recently announced the dates for its Farther From Earth tour, which comes to DAR Constitution Hall on Monday, April 27. Matt Nathanson and Erin McCarley will play opening sets. Tickets ($34) go on sale Saturday, February 14, at 10 AM, but you can purchase presale tickets until 10 PM tonight with the password “spinning.”



You’ve got six months’ notice for two upcoming Jimmy Buffet concerts at Nissan Pavilion on Thursday, September 3, and Saturday, September 5. He performs with the Coral Reefer Band, and tickets to both shows ($36 to $136) go on sale Saturday at 10 AM.

Lucinda Williams, who’ll perform at the 9:30 Club with opening act Buick 6 on Tuesday, March 3, has added a second show on Wednesday, March 4. Tickets ($40) to both are on sale now.

Neko Case’s show at 9:30 Club with the indie-rock band Crooked Fingers on Wednesday, April 8, has sold out, but a second night was just added for Thursday, April 9. Tickets ($28) went on sale this morning.

The British beauty Estelle, who gained notoriety with her hip-hip/pop single “American Boy,” will play the 9:30 Club on Sunday, March 15. Tickets ($35) went on sale this morning.

In addition to a show at the Birchmere, Etta James has scheduled another in the Washington area, this time at the Lyric Opera House in Baltimore on Sunday, May 17. Tickets ($32 to $52) go on sale Friday at 10 AM.

Puerto Rican rapper Daddy Yankee, who’s known for his infectious reggaeton hits, will perform at DAR Constitution Hall on Sunday, March 15. Tickets ($58) go on sale Friday, February 13, at 10 AM.
