Daddy in the Latino Billboard Awards


Dominican singer JUAN LUIS GUERRA and Colombian star FANNY LU lead the nominations for this year's (08) Billboard Latin Music Awards with seven and six nods, respectively. Guerra is up for the Songwriter of the Year and Producer of the Year categories, while he and his group 440 have also received nods for awards including Tropical Album of the Year, Duo or Group for La Llave de Mi Croazon, and Tropical Airplay Song of the Year for the LP's title track. Pop newcomer Fanny Lu's Lagrimas Calidas album will contend for the Tropical Album of the Year, Female as well as Tropical Album of the Year, New Artist, among a clutch of other awards. Meanwhile, the Latin Album of the Year category will be contested between pop group Camila for Todo Cambio, Daddy Yankee for El Carte: The Big Boss, Wisin y Yandel for Wisin Vs. Yandel: Los Extraterrestres, and singer/actress Jennifer Lopez for Como Ama Una Mujer. The Top Latin Albums Artist of the Year nominations are dominated by Mexican acts, with Aventura going up against Vicente Fernandez, Marco Antonio Solis and Valentin Elizalde. Other nominees include Enrique Iglesias, Colombian rocker Juanes, Mexican rock band Maná and newcomer Kany Garcia. The winners of the 19th annual Billboard Latin Music Awards will be announced on 10 April (08).
